The Official e-Newsletter of Red Oak

Hey Team,

Sorry; it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten the “weekly” newsletter out via email; perhaps terming it our “periodic” newsletter would get me off the hook, eh?  A few items I want to mention that are important to Red Oak:

  • This Sunday, we’ll be observing the Lord’s Table together; it’s the cross of Christ that is central to us as His followers, and taking the Lord’s Table together reminds us again of that fact.  Come prepared to worship the Lord in this way!
  • Following service, we’ll hold a very brief Business Conference for two purposes: one, to vote on a church secretary; Diana Miller has graciously volunteered to serve in this capacity, but of course must be affirmed by the congregation.  Two, we have in place now a team of folks who are assisting me with leadership, tentatively called our “Vision Team”–and we’ve had two (unofficial) meetings already this week.  It’s important for the congregation to affirm the members of this team as well, and so we’ll be doing that.  I’m excited about the work that’s been initiated by this team already!
  • Along with that, we want to get a “snapshot” of the congregation, and to help us with that, we’ll be distributing a “Spiritual Gifts Test” this week.  What we hope to gain by doing this is simply to get a better grip on where the gifts and talents of our particular congregation lie (fuller teaching on spiritual gifts is something we have planned for the future, by the way!).  We’d so much appreciate it if you would take one of these home and fill it out next week so as to get it back to us as quickly as possible.
  • Super Bowl party is set for this Sunday evening at the Harveys’ home at 5:30 PM.  Come and bring some munchies and a 2-liter drink–and if you don’t care for football, just come and “hang out”!
  • Finally, our FLOCKs begin again in earnest this coming week, starting with the Tuesday night FLOCK, which will be led by Bruce McLean and meet at the church at 7 PM.  Please find your place in one of our FLOCKs as we gear these back up!

Thanks for being a great congregation, and see you Sunday!
